40 runners support Team Adem at Sunshine Coast Marathon

Team Adem thanks all the wonderful runners that ran in the Sunshine Coast Marathon festival on Sunday 31st Aug. It was such an amazing morning and we were totally overwhelmed by the support. We would like to make special mention of Amy Keating who organized the 5C For Team Adem Team, Many of these Wonderful Oncology/Haematology Nurses cared for Adem while he was receiving treatment in Brisbane.

We also thank regular Team Adem supporter Suzi Wockner for her amazing efforts in organizing her running friends to run for Team Adem on the day. Close to $3000 was raised for Team Adem from the runners and a huge amount of awareness about what Team Adem is doing to help others.

Team Adem can’t wait until next year and is hoping to attract even more runners to support us in this fantastic event.
Thanks everyone………together we are certainly making a difference

Team Adem donates iPads to Nambour Hospital Oncology Unit

Last Thursday (21st Aug) Team Adem proudly donated 2 iPads and an Ice maker to the Oncology Outpatients Unit at Nambour General Hospital. The iPads will help pass the time for those patients who have to spend many hours receiving their treatment. The ice machine will make life a little more comfortable for those patients with ulcers in their mouth – This unfortunately is a common occurrence for patients undergoing Chemotherapy.

Nurses support Team Adem in Sunshine Coast Marathon

haematology_nurses_featureTeam Adem is very proud and excited to have some of Brisbane’s most respected haematology nurses support us in this year’s Sunshine Coast Marathon. These wonderful nurses are from the Royal Brisbane Hospital 5C ward, which is one of Australia’s premium haematology/bone marrow transplant wards.
Many of these nurses helped care for Adem during the 2 years he was being treated for his Leukaemia in Brisbane. Amy Keating who has organised the nurses to run for Team Adem said “There is not a week that goes by without Adem’s name being mentioned and Team Adem is always being spoken about in the staff room for all the great work they do to help blood cancer patients.”

The nurses will be running under the name “5C for Team Adem” and are trying to raise $5000 for Team Adem to help us continue the work we do to help others.

On a personal note, we are very touched by the nurses’ decision to run in support of Team Adem and in honour of Adem and other patients. Adem loved all his nurses like family and this would mean so much to him….as it does to us. We will forever be grateful to all of Adem’s health care professionals for the kindness and compassion he received while in their care.
Please consider sponsoring “5C for Team Adem” and help these wonderful nurses reach their goal of $5000 and in doing so you will be helping Team Adem Help Others.

Team Adem donates over 1000 Nappies to Ronald McDonald House Charities

nappiesLast Friday (13/06/14)Team Adem donated over 1000 nappies to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Brisbane. RMHC provides free accommodation and support for families with seriously ill children from regional Queensland and surrounding islands. The nappies are a much needed and used item by the families staying at the accommodation houses. Families often arrive with the bare basics, as in many cases the unwell child has been urgently rushed to a major hospital. The majority of the parent’s time is then spent with their sick child, so shopping for every day items can become very difficult. A number of our Team Adem supporters have been the recipients of the generosity of RMHC.

More Team Adem Rugs for Blood Donor Centres

A few months ago Team Adem donated some lovely red blankets to the Maroochydore blood donor centre so our donors and others could rug up while donating. Little did we know how popular these would become? Team Adem has now decided to donate blankets to other centres where our members regularly donate including Nambour, Strathpine, Brisbane City, Springwood and 3 Donor Vans in Sth East Qld. Next time you are in to donate blood, ask for a Team Adem Blanket to keep you cozy.

Below are staff members from Nambour blood donor centre with one of the 6 new Team Adem Blankets donated to their centre.
